We also got incredibly lucky after diving. As the boat docked, we got our first glimpse of blue footed boobies in the water. We could see their blue feet swimming around and then watched as the flock took flight to catch their lunch.

After dropping our belongings at our hotel, we took a cab to Tortuga Bay Beach. Once we arrived, there was a 30 minute walk to the beach down a brick path lined with cactus trees. There are two beaches: One that you can’t swim due to rip tides, though it’s open to surfers, and one behind with very calm water. Walking along the beach we saw marine iguanas heading out to sea and a sea turtle paddling around near the shore. When we arrived at the calm beach, we had it pretty much to ourselves and snorkeled around a bit and watched pelicans dive the water to catch dinner. Afterwards, we walked up to the rocks where the marine iguanas were sunning themselves. It started raining as we walked back.
